LFA joins the OfS Register of Higher Education Providers

05 December 2019

London Film Academy is now officially recognised by the Office for Students (OfS) and listed on their Register, a list of approved Higher Education providers in the UK.

What does this mean?
This means that we meet the OfS requirements for academic standards, course quality, student support, and student protection.

The OfS is the new independent regulator of higher education in England. All registered providers are regulated by the OfS and are assessed against the same criteria.  OfS aims to ensure that every student, whatever their background, will have a fulfilling higher education experience.

Being on the OfS Register also gives the full privileges of Tier 4 sponsorship.

What does this mean for students outside of the EU?

  • Students on programmes of degree level and higher can now work while they study in the UK - 20 hours per week during term, full time during holidays
  • Students can extend their Tier 4 visas in the UK (previously they had to leave and re-apply from abroad)
  • London Film Academy can determine the English language level of students itself - students no longer have to take the IELTS for UKVI
  • Students who wish to progress to another course (e.g. BA to MA Filmmaking or MA Screenwriting) can be immediately enrolled without having to leave the UK or reapply.

What does this mean for students in the UK & the EU?

  • Eligible UK and EU/EEA students will be able to apply for UK government loans for the duration of their studies in 2019/20 and 2020/21 if they are a UK or EU/EEA citizen or have lived for the previous three years in the UK or EU/EEA. This only applies to the BA(Hons) Filmmaking.

The Office for Students is an independent public body that reports through the Department for Education (DfE).
